Historical Data: This is the main synagogue of Thessaloniki. It is the only one remaining of the 40 synagogues that existed before World War II. It was built in 1925 an dwas inaugurated in 1927. It was saved during the war after it was requistioned by the Red Cross. Area/Capacity: 300 sq. m. & 300 sq. m. (the women's gallery)/ 600 persons Actual Condition: Excellent state of preservation, maintained by the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki. Necessary Restoration Works: None Estimated Cost: None
Historical Data: This synagogue was reconstructed in 1984 in a modern buidling and it includes remains from previously destroyed synagogues. It was built on the site of the former Burla Synagogue, originally built in 1921. Area/Capacity: 208 sq. m./ 200 persons Actual Condition: The synagogue is maintained in very good condition by the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki. Historical Data: It was built in 1981 and is located inside the Saoul Modiano Jewish Retirement Home for the needs of the residents. Area/Capacity: 60 sq. m./ 90 persons Actual Condition: Maintained by the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki and the administration of the retirement home, it is in very good condition. Necessary Restoration Works: None Estimated Cost: None |
