SYNAGOGUE OF LARISSA
 
Interior of the Synagogue of Larissa

Historical Data:  This is the only remaining synagogue (of seven) that survived World War II.  It was built in the 19th century.  It suffered serious damages during the war and its interior was totally restored after 1945.  
Area/Capacity:   300 sq. m./ 400 persons  
Actual Condition:  It was recently restored and it is maintained in a very good state by the Jewish Community 
of Larissa.  
Necessary Restoration Works:  The synagogue requires installation of heating system and gernal 
preservation works as well.  
Estimated Cost:   4 million drs. ($11,000 US)


CEMETERY OF LARISSA 
 
Part of the cemetery of Larissa
 
 

Historical Data:  The cemetery of Larissa dates back to 1850 and it contains tombstones since 1898.  
Area/Capacity:  4,200 sq. m.  
Actual Condition:  It is surrounded by a wall and it is kept in a very good state by the local Jewish commuity.   
Necessary Restoration Works:  Tombstone conservation works are needed.  Internal paths need to be 
expanded to cover current needs.  
Estimated Cost:   5 million drs. ($14,000 US)
